De La soul

You are the stupidest person I've ever heard of. Scrubs? That was great in 2002. So was get Fuzzy. You are the dumbest person I've ever read. I hope you never have children becuase you have poor taste and a stupid name

Michelle

I like the comic strip, I think it's different, and funny. (In a "dark" kind of way). We needed something different and creative. (De La soul, that's a bit harsh. Even if you don't like the man's comic strip, there's no need to be rude).

Josh

Oops - apologies to you both. Michelle, De La soul's comments were actually in response to a troll whose comments were eventually deleted. Nothing to do with Mark Tatulli or Lio. Your compliments are certainly appreciated!

Mike Wean

The pet giant squid idea? I suspect Mark "borrowed" it from me. Normally I'd say, hey, there are no new ideas and the guy probably came up with it himself. But considering how many sites feature my (now defunct) Web-based strip "Jax & Co.," how much online media coverage it received when it was running (do a Google search), and how similar Mark's treatment of the idea is to mine, well...

Go here and read strips 12-17:

I guess I could be paranoid, but I'm not usually a paranoid kind of guy, so I'm going to trust myself on this one.

Too bad, Mark. I really liked Lio until I saw the squid on a leash.

SHai

Hmm. Mr. Wean, I do't know that I get the same thing from Lio's squid as I got from Jax's octopus. The squid seemed reminiscent of lovecraftian/wattersonian hijinks, at least to me.

I am interested in contacting Mr. Tatulli, is there an agent # or email that I can use? The work is fantastic, and very tuned in to the spec-fic zeitgeist while being appealing enough to the mainstream to have met with success in syndication.

Josh

You can email Mark Tatulli by clicking on the "About" tab above the daily Lio comic and clicking on the "Email Mark Tatulli" link.

SHai -

When I say the treatment is similar, I'm talking about having an arthropod on a leash rather than, say, in a fish tank mounted on a a Radio Flyer wagon.

Lio's overall tone is certainly more Lovecraftian than anything I've ever produced, but a sight gag is a sight gag.
