It's not uncommon to find a comic strip featuring a boy and his dog. But only Skip Smalls can use his canine companion to download email!
Jonathan Mahood's daily strip, Bleeker: The Rechargeable Dog, stars a robotic dog who is full of surprises and the boy who is lucky enough to call Bleeker his best friend. Bleeker is a fun comic that grew a loyal following on Comics Sherpa before crossing over to GoComics.

Bleeker was also recently optioned by Radical Sheep Productions for an animated tv series. For more information about Radical Sheep and the show, go to http://www.radsheep.com/index.html or the Bleeker blog at http://bleekerblog.blogspot.com/
Really exciting stuff!

A very thinly disguised, rip-off of Calvin & Hobbes. But hey, I guess that's what new journalism is all about.

Why not take a read of the strip before casting your ill-informed judgment. That's the big problem with comic strips today. It's impossible to get out from under the shadow the mammoth strips. People see a precocious small boy and automatically its Calvin and Hobbes. A talking dog - snoopy. A one-panel gag comic - Far Side. Do yourself a favor and shrug off the stereotypes.

Quenby, have you read the strip more than once? It's plainly set in the 21st century and not the last one, which you seem to be stuck in.

Granted, it's not the most entertaining strip in the collection. The idea is great (maybe that's why it's going to animation) but the writing never really got me going. But is it a Calvin rip off? Heck no

I have read "Bleeker" ever since it transitioned from ComicsSherpa to Gocomics.com and I regret to say that I haven't really liked it. I think it's the writing...
I liked the premise, and I like the art, so I really want to like the comic. But, sadly, I just can't find much humor in there and so I have stopped reading it.
However, this is not a "calvin and Hobbes" rip-off in the least. Or did you mean that individual strip?

I remember when "Bleeker" was over at Comics Sherpa and was called "Hoover".
I love reading it. It is very clever, well thought out, well written and the artwork is friggin' eye candy.
I don't care if it is another boy and dog strip, what this strip has is potential. I see it going far, if only given half a chance.
