Mark Pett is doing what no health inspector or surgeon general's warning ever could: He's shutting down Lucky Cow.
In case you missed it, Universal Press Syndicate announced last Friday that Lucky Cow, Pett's fast food-themed comic strip, will come to an end on February 2nd. Pett is looking for "more time to pursue other creative opportunities." The final Sunday strip will run on January 27th. Read the official press release here.
Thanks, Mark, for 4+ years of Gary, Clare, Leticia, Elvin, Saturday ads, Kenny the bully (and his mullet), and most especially for one of our favorite comic strip characters of all time, the genius that is Neil.

Damn. This is one of the best strips on GoComics. Like Big Top and Bo Nanas, it deserved more papers than it was in. Like Big Top and Bo Nanas, it was had great art, great writing, and great stroylines. Like Big Top and Bo Nanas, it's been ended after only about 5 years for financial reasons.
If only all of the newspapers running "Hi and Lois" replaced it with "Lucky Cow," the comics pages would be a better place.

Here, here. And Amen.
There is no accounting for taste. Because that would require a CPA.

Well, "Lucky Cow" ended today. It was a great strip as I wrote above, and it probably deserved to last longer. But who was expecting it to end in such a dramatic way? I suppose it was kind of like the circus getting shut down at the end of "Big Top," but this seemed more dramatic, what with the Mexican flag controversy and all.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, shame on you. You should have been reading "Lucky Cow"...now it's gone. You missed your chance.

I'm still checking the strip out in case it goes back to doing re-runs like the 'BigTop' strip did.
