A couple of year-end illustrations from Richard Thompson and Lalo Alcaraz, respectively. For some reason the image of Baby Barack in a diaper cracks me up. The shocked look on everyone's faces in Lalo's drawing makes it even better.

I must confess I am a blubbering fan of Richard's...
But I have to say it again...his artworks amazes me. He says so much with a pen stroke.
And his watercolor work is amazing...look at the graduation of color and highlights in George Bush's ear, the flecks of purple in his boots. Wonderfully whimsical and at the same time weirdly realistic. Richard should be doing children's book illustrations. I'd love to see how he'd handle a two-page spread, no text, like "where the wild things are".
