Before ESPN, Rick Reilly and The Sports Guy ... there was Tank McNamara. Launched in 1974, Tank was one of the first voices to publicly lampoon the sports world. Congrats to my two friends Jeff Millar and Bill Hinds on 35 (thirty-five? Good gravy!) years of top-notch satire.
Who can forget this legendary scene on "Seinfeld"?
[Jerry is talking to Seth at his apartment]
Jerry: Seth, if you knew the meeting was so important why did you go the
lunch with me?
Seth: We're old college buddies.
Jerry: I only knew you through Moochie.
Seth: Hey Jerry don't worry about it, the important thing is that we got to
catch up. Mind if I grab the want ads?
Jerry: Actually I haven't read Tank McNamara yet.
I know what you mean, Jerry. I know what you mean.

Many congratz to Millar and Hinds! Two great guys who actually still do all the work on their own strip! Quite a milestone! Very, very impressive! Now go get drunk, you deserve it!
