Yesterday, the child in me jumped for joy. News was released that after years of buzz, a Peanuts movie will be released around Thanksgiving 2015.
A little insight into me: Prior to my lovely times at GoComics, I worked in the movie exhibition industry for more than 5 years. It's a personal passion. I love the immersive experience where for two hours, you can be taken to 18th-century France, an Iraqi war zone, Narnia or to the underbelly of a major city.
As a kid, I loved Peanuts. The sincerity of the characters mesmerized me. From Charlie Brown's hard luck and self-reflection to Linus' eternal optimism, I loved every second of the television specials and the previous movies. Plus, who didn't want a dog who could rock a pair of shades, dance and woo the ladies?
If tickets were on sale right now, I'd have already placed an advance order. Charles Schulz' son is writing the screenplay, according to the press release, so it'll also stay true to the Peanuts values that have stood the test of time.
In fact, we tweeted to AMC Theatres and 20th Century Fox about this after we heard the news. They're just as excited as us.
So, in preparation of this occasion, I will be reading Peanuts for the next three years. Sneak peek: Be on the lookout for "The Great Pumpkin" later this month. Care to join me? Catch up on all of the characters here with us.
