As of late, The Force has been very strong. Maybe you haven’t noticed, but Jedi Knights live among us. Our very own GoComics editorial cartoonist, Glenn McCoy, captured President Obama using his Jedi powers.
Politics is a touchy and sensitive topic for many, especially with the elections around the corner. Our political cartoonists, like McCoy, have found ways to make very serious issues amusing, or at the very least, tolerable. In that, they do a much better job at social commentary than the negative political advertisements by candidates’ various supporters.
Political cartoons have this clever way of taking a negative opinion and putting it into a more lighthearted context. After the elections, whomever the president or president-elect may be, we will need to come together as a nation to support our leader -- regardless of political party. A united nation is a strong nation, and humor will be a key tool in accomplishing this goal.
