Some folks I know have called "Skippy" the forefather to "Calvin and Hobbes." That can be hard to argue against, if you spend some time reading Percy Crosby's wonderful comic.
And did you know that Percy Crosby was one of most famous people in the United States in the early half of the 20th Century? Did you also know that the comic spawned two movies starring the irrepressible, Jackie Cooper?
I highly recommend checking out this beautiful book from IDW Publishing. It offers a look at Skippy's first two years of comics as well as a glimpse into what life was like in 1925-1927.
And no I don't have personal experience in those years! Though I do love a nice chocolate phosphate.
