Cartoonist Studio contest!

Hello, blog friends! The Cartoonist Studio website contest is in FULL EFFECT, and Sherpa's own T. Shepherd (Snow Sez) wrote me a great email, which pointed out that out of over 100 entries, 25 are Sherpa comics! As Ms. Shepherd says, "I also believe this would be a great opportunity to encourage and support  the up-and-coming talent that is on Sherpa."

Vote!

Lalo on Maddow

Not to make it all Lalo, all the time, but Lalo Alcaraz was on Rachel Maddow last night to talk about his contributions to the "self-deportation" issue in the GOP debates! It's a long clip, but the relevant part starts about 3 minutes in.

You can watch it here.

Do you know Molly and the Bear?

If you're not reading "Molly and the Bear," now's a good time to get started.

Self-deportation in the comics news

Awesome article on the term, coined by Universal Uclick's own Lalo Alcaraz here.

Coincidentally, the phrase shows up in today's Tom Toles cartoons as well!

Stone Soup in Haiti

618d105023bb012f2fcb00163e41dd5b

There's a really interesting storyline going in "Stone Soup" right now. Evie Stone is in Haiti building houses. The character also has a Facebook page with updates about her life in Haiti and her adventures. This series is based on the time "Stone Soup" creator Jan Eliot spent in Haiti, and it's been a fascinating read so far. This is a pretty good place to start.

Pre-muppet Henson robot!

I think Jim Henson was pro-robot! Though the robot's little rant at the end sounds suspiciously like the talk you give yourself after a breakup. "I don't need you!" "Why won't you call me back?"

The piece on Slate has a nice writeup of it, as well.

Maurice Sendak on the Colbert Report

They talk about boyparts. So it's not entirely safe for children or work without headphones. Also, how awesome is Maurice Sendak? The awesomest.
