Possibly the greatest pun turned holiday ever, “May the fourth,” which has since become known as “Star Wars Day,” is a day where fans of all ages unite to celebrate one of the greatest sagas our galaxy has ever known. This year’s Star Wars Day, in particular, is sure to be one for the books, as the latest Star Wars installment, The Force Awakens, is being released this December!
It’s hard to say exactly when Star Wars transitioned from a trend to a lifestyle, but since the first film’s original release in May of 1977, that is certainly what it has become. With a continually growing, steadfast and diverse fan base, George Lucas’ Star Wars saga has stood the test of time, transcending generations as a beloved tradition passed down from one Jedi to the next, with no sign of dying out.
The Star Wars universe and the comics universe are constantly intertwining. For example, The Force has made several Comic-con appearances, including Kansas City Comic-con, which I had the privilege of attending this past March. You can also catch The Force on a regular basis here at GoComics. Several of our cartoonists are obvious fans and often include Star Wars characters, puns and jokes in their strips.
Haven’t gotten your full Star Wars fix yet? You know that we’ve always got you covered! There are plenty more Star Wars-themed comic strips HERE in our Star Wars Day collection. Happy celebrating, GoComics friends! May the Fourth be with you today and always!
